The Area

Naeba is one of the most well known ski resorts in Japan, as well as one of the more popular and fashionable. Located on Mt. Takenoko, Naeba has been called the "St. Moritz of the East" or the "Aspen of Japan" to North Americans. The magnificent mountain has been home to a large number of national and international ski / snowboard events, and is ever popular with the skiers and boarders of Japan.

The huge and efficient lift system takes skiers up the many slopes, which range from easy and gentle at the base of the mountain, to more difficult mogul runs and steep slopes nearer the top. The slopes in front and to the left of the huge Naeba Prince Hotel are most suited for beginners and families.

Yuzawa, the nearest town, is the traditional capital of Japan's snowy region. It can be reached in 1 hour and 20 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo. Naeba is another half hour away on the ski bus.

Skiing

• Naeba Ski Area (2 gondolas, 33 lifts) - Facilities includes Family Snow Land, Kids Snow Ground, ski rental shop, ski school, clinic, restaurants, snack stations, walking course, parking (7,000 cars).
• Mikuni Ski Area (3 lifts) - Only 10 minutes by car from Naeba resort, this ski area is snowboard accessible and features a restaurant, snack bar, ski rentals, parking (400 cars).
• Kagura Ski Area
• Mitsumata Ski Area - Facilities include ropeway, ski rentals, ski school, convenience shop, restaurants.
• Tashiro Ski Area - Facilities include ropeway, ski rentals, ski school, shops, restaurants.
• Yuzawa Nakazato Ski Area - Ski Center includes restaurant, convenience shop, ski rentals, onsen (hot springs), ski school, clinic, parking.
• Tsuchitaru Ski Area - Ski rentals available.
• Muikamachi Hakkaisan Ski Area - Facilities include ski rentals, ski school, convenience shops, restaurants, ramen corner, parking.

Golf

• Naeba Prince Golf Course - 18 holes, par 72.
• Yuzawa Nakazato Par-3 Course - 18 holes, par 54.
